I like to this of it this way: everyone can participate in the design process — give their feedback based on the lense of their area of expertise. It’s the designer's job to facilitate a process that gets the most value from that feedback, and then figure out how to coherently collate and apply that feedback to improve the design solution. That’s the agency of a designer. They don’t own creativity, they don’t own all the good ideas, and they don’t own the artifacts of their work. The value is in the process. They own the process.
