This feels right to me.
I freelanced for 20+ years and then took a full time role. I was just laid off right before Christmas, and am owed 3 months back pay from that former employer. They've left me financially wrecked. So much for stability! I'm going back to freelancing, so I at least have control over my destiny.
This trend has been growing for years, and I agree with you that it will keep growing into 2025. Contractors offer so many benefits to employers (all the reasons you mentioned) that it will start to seem like a silly risk to hire full-time employees.
