The point is that what satisfies the customers should satisfy the client. If the client is basing decisions on other more personal or subjective measures, they haven’t set the right kind of goals or metrics to measure a successful design outcome. As I stated in response to Jeff’s comment (which has since been deleted), satisfying your client and their customers isn’t mutually exclusive. If goals are aligned properly, they should be one and the same.
