That’s an interesting point. And it’s precisely why designers who can code are more valuable. The ability to cross between those two mindsets is a massive advantage.
I would, by the way, suggest that front-end developers who understand design are also better at coding. No matter how detailed and documented a design is, there are always small design decisions that crop up during coding. If the developer has enough design know-how to make a coherent design decision in that context it makes them far more well-rounded.
