This approach is actually applicable to much more than just design. Parenting comes to mind as another good example. Every child is different, and therefore any advice you get some other parents or experts will be coming from a different context and is unlikely to lead to the best outcome for your unique situation.

This is why, in design or anything else, the true value lies in adaptability and problem-solving ability. Every project has its own unique set of constraints and challenges. A mediocre designer will impose the same rigid process every time. Sometimes it will work well and sometimes it won’t. A great designer will iterate on the process just as they iterate on the design, to make sure they are always fulfilling the unique needs of their context.
