Just out of curiosity, what percentage of UX designers would you say are not also visual designers?

I do both UX and UI design, and I can’t imagine fulling separating the two. When I’m thinking of function I’m also thinking of how it might look, and then I’m tweaking the visuals I’m always considering how that affects user experience.

To me, the concept of a UX designer who never does UI design is a foreign thing. But of course, I know at larger companies with room for narrower specialisation there will be plenty of people who do one or the other and are never across the whole process.

I find having a singular vision across the whole process (both UX and UI) is extremely valuable, and it’s one reason I continue to be extremely in-demand as a freelance designer. I wouldn’t imagine ever dropping the visual side to focus purely on UX deliverables.
