Design, by definition, is different than art becaue it's solving a client problem. Every client and problem is unique, and that's why the most valuable design is bespoke. This make is hard to "productize".
Most people's definition of the creator economy is content creators who create articles, videos, images, podcasts or other media that is meant to appeal to a large audience. It's not easy to monetize content unless a lot of people look at it.
But most design work isn't made for this purpose. Unless you're the type of designer that makes design products instead of designing for clients. Like templates, icons packs, UI kits, t-shirts, etc. Those things can be productized for the maker economy easily.
Designers have plenty of control over how they monetize their work. Using platforms like Fiverr or Upwork is the last place to do it. Design is only treated like a commodity at low price points. When you elevate your value as a designer the cheap commodity problem goes away.
